Valley of Dead Bones

Ezekiel 37:1-10

37 The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”
I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.
Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath[a] enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”
So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four wind sand breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.

As I read this chapter in the bible, I realized that I have seen this valley of dry bones before. I used to be like those bones, and many of the people who are in the church are dead like these bones. If you read verse 7 and 8, you see that the bones came together, the tendons formed, the flesh appeared and the skin covered the bodies, BUT there was still no life in the people.

Many times we see people who are blessed in their family, they are prosperous, they are healthy, yet they are unhappy with their lives. They are empty. They are feeling like something is missing in their lives. When we do not have an encounter with God, with His Spirit, we are dead in life.

We are living physically, but spiritually we are dead because we have not met the fountain of life yet. If you read on in verse 10 when God breathed into these dead bodies, they came alive and became a huge army.

If you are tired of the life you have, if you are tired of trying to fill that emptiness with things of this World, then seek God. Ask Him to come into your life, into your heart, so you can know what true happiness and true life is.

God Bless.
