and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Matthew 19.5-6
Many of us dream of the day when we will get married. Maybe you even get butterflies in your stomach when you think about it. But you know what's interesting? There are many people who want to get married, yet when it comes to God, they want to stay single. They are afraid of commitment, afraid of leaving the single life behind. They are not willing to sacrifice; to commit. In reality, those who are not married with God, nor desire to do so, are not ready to be in a relationship. Because our marriage, our relationship with others, is a reflection of our life with God. That is the truth my friend.
If we want to become one flesh with God, we have to realize, that in this marriage, He will be the head. Just as the Lord Jesus is the head of the church. In other words, we will have to submit to Him, and His will. And I say this with so much joy, because it is beautiful when the will of God is revealed to us. When we stop living our dreams, to discover His dreams for our life. When this happens, we receive the answer to those famous questions of: "Why was I created?" "What is my purpose in life?" "What did God create me to do?" Sounds familiar? When we submit our will to Him, when we open hands to our will, our personal dreams, then the Word of God is fulfilled when it says:
. . . Then you will be able to test and approve what
God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12.2
You will have your story to tell, when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. But knowing Him, becoming one with Him, needs to be our greatest dream; our priority. All of our other dreams, dreams of being in a relationship or getting married, dreams of having a business, etc., all of those dreams need to be surrendered on the Altar. In other words, sacrificed. We need to empty ourselves of our will, so we can receive His.
How do I know if I have surrendered my will to God? When we are freed from everything, with all sincerity, we should be able to say: "I don't want my will no more, I want the will of my Lord Jesus". When we live for His will, we allow Him to take control of our life, to give when He wants and how He wants.
SELF CHECK:
Have a surrendered my will to God?
Is the Holy Spirit my priority, or something else?
Is there something that I still need to place on the Altar?
Tomorrow is the grand day of the event "Holy Spirit: My Life". Just as a bride never forgets the day of her wedding, the same will occur, when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
God Bless and until tomorrow!
