The Holy Spirit, being the living water, was not only inside of the Lord Jesus, but also the One who led him into the desert.
So, before we enter the desesrt, let's seek the Kingdom of God.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6.33
How do we conquer the Kingdom of God? How do I conquer the Holy Spirit? This was the same question that a young rich man asked the Lord Jesus:
As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
Mark 10.17
What is an inheritance? It is possessions or things that a person receives when their parents pass away. In other words, something that comes easy. This young man, did not ask how he could conquer the Kingdom of God, but how he could inherit It. In other words, he wanted it to come easy. The same thing happens with those who are religious. They follow the commandments. They honor their parents, they don't steal nor kill, etc. As the the man replied, "all these I have kept since I was a boy". In other words, this person was raised to have a good conduct, but even like this, it was not enough to enter in the Kingdom of God. When the Lord Jesus told him the ONE thing he was lacking, the man went away sad. The Lord Jesus asked him to surrender his possesions. Why? He knew his heart was in his wealth. And the same thing happens now. Many of us say, "My God I want to follow you. I want to receive Your Spirit". However, when God asks for the thing that we are lacking, many times we get sad, angry, or even leave God's presence, as did the young man.
This is the reason that many times God does not prosper a person. He knows that if He blesses, the person will get lost because their heart is in their money. Many times God does not bless in a person's love life because He knows that if He does, He will lose he person's soul. And when our heart is in a person, girlfriend/boyfriend, sooner or later you will disobey God for this person, and go to hell because your heart was in this person. So, in order to not lose the person, He delays the person's blessing, until they have the structure to possess it. So, when He gives, the person will remain firm with Him. I don't know if you've noticed but many times a person comes to church to resolve one problem, and it seems that God is resolving every little problem in their life except that one problem. Why? Because their heart, is still, in their kids, their love life, the job, etc. Sometimes even the people get angry when the pastor talks about a certain topic during the preaching, for example the offering. The person hates when the pastor asks for the offering and tithe. Why? Because their heart is not in God, but in their money.
Our heart has to belong to God. The Lord Jesus has to be your treasure. Because when a person has Him as their treausure, they can lose everything that they have: their family, their wealth, their girlfriend, everything! But who can take the Lord Jesus out of their heart? Nobody. The person can lose everything, but if the Lord Jesus is in their heart, the person remains firm with God. Salvation is not inherited. It is CONQUERED by faith, surrender, sacrifice, and obedience.
So the question is, where has your heart been? Could it be that your heart truly belongs to God? Or is it in a family member? a friend? your love life? your job? Where is your heart?
If you are not sure, I have good news. The bible says that God examines the mind and searches the heart. Take a moment today when it's just you and God, and ask Him to help you search your heart. I did the same today. And who knows, maybe when you reflect on the things that have happened, these past months or years, you will be suprised to what you'll find inside.
Until tomorrow, God Bless.
